Description
Heartkeeper: mobile application for hearth diseases self-management. Mobile application for smartphones and tablets, specifically designed for patients suffering from heart diseases. The main purpose of this application is to provide them with a way to better control and manage these diseases and, therefore, to improve their quality of life. The application will include different modules, allowing the user to record the activities and events related to their hearth condition and to storage the medication they have to take, setting alarms for every intake and registering if they actually took them or if they forgot. The application will also provide them with medical technical information about their disease and advice on the best lifestyle for it. Moreover, the patients' doctors would benefit from it, as they could monitor their patients' activities, events and progress, information quite valuable to make future decisions. The application controls and helps patients suffering from different hearth diseases regarding several aspects of their condition. It is powered by Android, as it is the most common open source operating system and there are many tools as well as assistance to develop apps.Other information

Companies and markets:
There are two fields of application: health and telecommunications. Both fields meet at the so-called mobile health or mHealth. The WHO (World Health Organization) defines it as "medical and public health practice supported by mobile devices, such as mobile phones, patient monitoring devices, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and other wireless devices." In essence, it is to use the technology derived from telecommunications advances to provide means to improve health in different ways. Putting aside the great deal of hardware devices available for this purpose, at this moment there is a big mobile software industry in general, focused on health in particular, so its most obvious commercial use would be to include the application in the Android store, Google Play. Nowadays there are thousands of medical apps available in said store. Despite some of them provide similar functionalities as the ones offered by our app, such as monitoring medication intakes or providing general information about diseases, none of them provides all at once, so right now there are no similar alternatives.
Advantages:
Despite the fact that there are several health mobile applications, the developed app has a high innovative potential within the medical field, as it covers a niche market disregarded so far by other tools: health disease self-management. The application allows to pass on health professionals' (cardiologists) knowledge to patients, so that they could better understand their condition.
