Description

The University's Research Institute in Mathematics aims to promote and develop quality research in all areas of Mathematics and its applications, accommodating the groups and lines of research currently existing at the University of Valladolid and, at the same time , promoting the opening of new interdisciplinary lines of research and the transfer of research results to the productive sectors. The recruitment of competitive researchers and the development of training programs for researchers will also be priority lines of action for the Institute.

Objectives of the IMUVa:
  • Promote and develop quality research in all areas of Mathematics and its applications, including emerging areas of Mathematics born from the challenges posed by the advances of other disciplines, both scientific-technological and social.
  • Support the different Mathematics Research Groups of the University of Valladolid in the development of their lines of research and in the achievement of their scientific objectives.
  • Promote interdisciplinary lines of research between the different branches of Mathematics as well as between these and other scientific-technical branches, creating the favorable conditions for the establishment of research networks, the formation of multidisciplinary teams and collaboration with other research centers, both national and foreign.
  • Stimulate the transfer of advances in mathematical research to society through cooperation with companies and institutions in the development of projects of scientific, economic or social interest.
  • Collaborate with other institutions of the University of Valladolid in the development of Postgraduate programs (Master and Doctorate) and other specialization and continuing education courses, and even create their own Postgraduate programs if the appropriate conditions were met.
  • Improve the social projection of Mathematics through the dissemination of advances in mathematical research and other outreach activities.
