Description
The Energy, Economy and Systems Dynamics Group (Grupo de Energía, Economía y Dinámica de Sistemas in Spanish) of the University of Valladolid is composed of professors and researchers with previous experience in the study of environmental issues within ecology and development co-operation. The group's research lines focus on energy and economy, as key factors of technology and life; and on systems dynamics, the most appropriate tool to analyze the complex relationships between some of the variables that affect sustainability and development, from a systemic view. This research group aims at strengthening the link between university and society, which explains our interest in disseminating the results, getting in contact with social organizations and choosing research topics of social interest. We have a Blog and 2 publication sections, one for academic papers and another, more informational, for writings but also stories, videos and interviews. Since 2011, the group has organized a Summer Course, each year about a different topic. You can watch the presentations and videos on the "Cursos" page.Other information

Software: http://www.eis.uva.es/energiasostenible/?page_id=3344 What is Systems Dynamics? Systems dynamics is a technique to analyze and model the temporal behavior of systems. It is based on tools derived from control engineering, such as computer identification and simulation. However, it is applied to systems that are not necessarily technical but economic, social, ecological, industrial, etc. This way, the experts' knowledge can be structured through mathematical models and the computers' computing power can be used to support decision-making. Originally developed in 1950 to help business managers improve their understanding of industrial processes, it is currently used in the public and private sectors for policy analysis and design.
