Description

Aims of the Chair

The purpose is the consolidation of a multidisciplinary group of teaching, research and scientific dissemination competent in archaeological studies in the field of archaeological heritage linked to the Pintia Archaeological Zone, by conducting basic and applied research in areas of common interest to the University and the business environment represented in the Board of Trustees. It also aims at the study, conservation, enhancement and transmission of the Cultural Heritage recovered through archaeological methodology, within the framework of its competences and possibilities. Likewise, University Extension is sought in the sense of transmission of knowledge generated within the University to society as a whole, with special attention to the provisions of the preamble of the Spanish Historical Heritage Law.

Social and economic interest

Knowledge generation. The basis of all other actions lies in the research that generates knowledge, as an element of university activity. The uniqueness of the heritage that houses the Pintia Archaeological Zone comes from a long history of research, initiated by the Prehistory Department of the University of Valladolid, since 1979, and maintained without interruption by the CEVFW since its establishment in 2001 to the present.
Dissemination of the knowledge generated and awareness of the archaeological heritage recovered. The Center has been working on this aspect since its foundation through numerous programs, both educational programs aimed at different age segments - Doceo Program for children, International Theoretical and Practical Archaeology Courses for university students, Archaeology with the family - and informative programs - cultural activities carried out at the site during the summer, guided visits throughout the year, production of audiovisual documents, creation of the Vaccea publishing house, etc...
Integration of the Center in the small town of Padilla de Duero. The presence of some thirty foreign and national students in this small town of less than forty inhabitants during the summer months, as well as the public attending the numerous activities carried out, constitutes an unavoidable contribution to the life and economy of this community.
