Description

This project develops and designs a water platform equipped by a self-propelled remote control and by a series of sensors that analyse river basins measuring water and its bottom parameters. This system provides data about river basin depth, as well as water speed, temperature and turbidity, among others. It is based on wave and ultrasound propagation in liquids to know water depth and speed parameters regarding the water sheet. Other sensors of physical or chemical features can be added to the frame as modules depending on the parameters that need to be monitored. The collected data, georegistered by an integrated global positioning system, can be saved in a storage device or sent from the river basin platform to a laptop operated by a technician on the river bank. The device allows to map river basins, to know the possibility of removing water from the river basin, to prevent floods, to keep ecological flows, as well as to monitor real-time water physicochemical parameters.

Agro-food industry. Environmental sustainability. Environmental technology.

Advantages:

Along SELVIDRON development, some beneficial adjustments have been made following the identified requests and concerns. Mainly, they are: The product concept and its utility. It was compared to the tools that are already in the market, and it was often better. The product price. The lack of information about its accuracy. The quality of the prototype measurement components. The need for a qualified person to operate the prototype and to process the collected data. Possibility of adding some other sensors as modules. Battery life and power of the propulsion, control and communication equipment.
