Description

The objectives of the Recognized research group  Water, Space and Society in the Middle Ages focus on the study of the revitalizing elements of late medieval urban society, including water and sociability. Both aspects are axes around which urban dynamics are structured in all those issues related to the social, political, economic and cultural aspects.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

  1. Encourage quality interdisciplinary research on the urban late medieval past, highlighting the prominent role of water as a relevant factor in understanding social dynamics in towns and cities.
  2. Favor the possibility of carrying out comparative studies of the Castilian reality with what happens in the same period in other European areas.
  3. Increase scientific knowledge in the area of ​​Medieval Urban History through the deepening of an important aspect such as water and sociability, in order to lay the foundations for future scientific advances in historical research.
  4. Transfer the progress of research to the national and international scientific community, through participation in scientific meetings, and to society in general through participation in various cultural events.
  5. Study of the basic cells of relationship, such as family, parish and neighborhood.
  6. Analysis of the complex structures of relation between which the brotherhoods and brotherhoods, and the lineage-sides stand out for the low medieval centuries.
  7. Pay attention to the gender variable, in order to observe and take into account the way in which men and women act in the field of representation and how they are perceived in the urban social context.
  8. In addition, in all cases it is also necessary to work on deepening the knowledge of the class variable, essential to advance in the understanding and explanation of late medieval urban society.
