Description

The importance of intercultural communication is increasing in a globalized world. This is due to the increase in migratory processes, to the increasingly fast international transport, to the new communication technologies and to the opportunities to work in international teams and networks.

Our linguistic-cultural identity is always in a continuous process of redefinition and crisis. With this research we want to reveal the sum of cultural habits and beliefs typical of a time and a society, contrasting and illustrating certain problems associated, precisely, with the contrast of linguistic-cultural systems.

A theory of intercultural communication is interested in the historical dimension of the redefinition process to build new vital horizons, and to access this dimension we must consider that the languages ​​and cultures that make up today's Europe are not disaggregated from each other in " different "cultural species, but different cultures are continuously interacting or can do so by communicating with each other.

We must change the traditional conception that we communicate because we have a verbal code. Communication is something much broader than a system of signs; communication is knowing how to interpret what surrounds us and, for this, culture is situated in a state prior to the code.

Until the 1980s, the media that serve as an expression of communicative action have been largely exemplified from a single language, in the same type of cultural framework. With this research we intend to combine various languages ​​and cultures, contrasting pragmatic categories, linguistic and cultural identities and methodological approaches that lead us to an increasingly effective teaching / learning of these languages.

OBJECTIVES:

1. Development of individual and collective investigation of the lines of action indicated and described in article 2 of the Regulation.

2. Promote relationships and exchanges with other related research groups, from Spanish and foreign universities.

2. Dissemination of the results achieved through publications, interventions in congresses, and dissemination in general

3. Participation in scientific meetings on topics that are part of the group's research lines to contrast opinions and present results

5. Promotion of the training of new researchers in the lines of scientific action.

6. Acquisition of bibliographic funds related to the GIR research fields.

7. Preparation of our own teaching materials.
