Aims of the Chair

The purpose of the Chair, attached to the Institute, is the development of historical and historiographical reflection on the broad field of Hispanism, through research, conferences, seminars, lecture series, publications, etc., dealing with issues related to different historical periods.

Social and economic interest

The social and economic interest of the Chair is the consequence of the collaboration of a private initiative with the public University, through the Simancas University Institute of History. Specifically, the Chair is a boost to the advancement of knowledge of the Hispanic past, in its dual European and American dimension, through the establishment of links between academics on both sides of the Atlantic. Likewise, the Chair has allowed and continues to allow the dissemination of the history of Castilla y León inside and outside Spain.
