Description
The main research line of the group focuses, nowadays, on the study of modern age art and its subsequent fortune. This GIR, in which five teachers of the University of Valladolid are included and two of the Complutense University of Madrid, benefits from great productivity and takes part in MAPA alongside the “iconography and art history” group, of the University Jaime I of Castellón, which researches the iconography since late 15th century until the 18th century.Other information

This group aims to study the history of art during the modern age, in accordance with the artistic links that developed between Spain and the various peoples of Europe since the time of the Catholic Monarchs to the French Revolution, with special emphasis on the art given by the powerful (kings, noble, great dignitaries...) in its various forms (civil, church, military- architecture- painting, sculpture, upholstery, jewellery...) and the different acceptance degree the society has shown to these works since their creation until today. The group’s objectives are: 1. Keep continuing communication among the members towards the improvement of the scientific results. 2. Promote common research works. 3. Participate in project that have continuation. 4. Organization of scientific events. 5. Dissemination of the results. 6. Congresses, symposia and national and international seminars. They feature a Juan de la Cierva researcher, Valeria Manfré, and a researcher with contract of exellence, Álvaro Pascual. Works: ‘Tapices flamencos en España’ (Flemish tapestries in Spain), initiative of the Carlos de Amberes Foundation and the Enciclo group, of which the professor Zalama Rodríguez is a scientific director. It has relied on the cooperation of the National Heritage and Ministry of education, culture and sport. ‘Europe without borders’. The artistic and cultural relationships between Spain and Netherlands in the time of Philip IV of France and Joanna of Castile (2007-2010), project funded by the Ministry of Education and Science.
