Companies and markets:
Quantum information breaks new ground in the way we process information: more powerful computers and simulators or secure cryptography schemes are the most relevant results. The methods of quantum information can be used to improve the existing network applications, like packet switching. In this field, we focus on the multiple access to optic networks. The light can be described using many alternative quantum bases. We have explored new multiple-access schemes based on two quantum states of light: Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) states and coherent states. Regarding security and cryptography, quantum information exhibits some remarkable properties: The qubits allow to carry out exponential calculations faster than conventional electric computers. Quantum information allows to design algorithms for quantum key distribution and quantum teleportation. In addition, illegitimate listenings within a quantum communication channel are easy to detect.
Advantages:
The advantages of quantum computing are its largescale implementation in pararell applications and its ability to provide new solutions to problems that traditional computing cannot address due to its high computational cost.
