Available equipment: 8 hydrolysis, particles, formulation, reaction and extraction pilot plants. 4-6 hydrolysis, particles, formulation, reaction and extraction laboratory plants. 3 vision devices to thermodynamic measurement of phases and reaction. Other equipment: mills, emulsifying apparatus, ovens, microwaves, rotary evaporator. Detection equipment: i-Raman spectrometer, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) of infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) for sugars, polimers, etc. (Further information available at: http://hpp.uva.es/equipment/) Other data (last five years: 3 European projects (SHYMAN, DoHIP and WINESENSE), 10 national projects in Spain, 4 competitive reseach projects at regional level and 18 research agreements with private entities. More than 100 papers have been published in renowned scientific journals and more than 120 have been presented in congresses and symposia at national and international levels. Two patents have been granted, 19 PhD theses have been defended, 17 of which obtained an European mention, and more than 13 Master's theses. Prospects for the future: focus areas of the Horizon 2020 programme - JTI Biobased Industries Consortium: Using alternative natural resources to produce energy and chemical products. Producing healthy and high-added-value products from renewable raw materials. More intensive processes by implementing new technologies to find other uses for raw materials and waste.
