Description

The Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics (IBGM) is a joint center of the University of Valladolid and the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC).

The IBGM is a multidisciplinary center, where projects are carried out aimed at understanding the mechanisms used by cells to carry out their basic functions in different systems and tissues, from the strictly molecular level to the most complex levels of integration that determine the functioning of all our cells both in physiological conditions and in pathological situations.

Scientific structure:

The scientific activity of the IBGM is organized around three research departments or units, which address their own thematic lines of research. These departments are:
  • Cellular and Molecular Physiology
  • Innate Immunity and Inflammation
  • Molecular Genetics of Disease.
Currently, about 140 people work at the IBGM, of whom 37 are staff scientists (10 from the CSIC and 27 from the UVa). The rest of the staff is made up of contracted doctors, postdocs, predoctoral or undergraduate students, and administration and research support staff.
