Description
Bait to capture the Monochamus Pine Galloprovincialis borer. This invention by Juan Alberto Pajares and David Hall is related to a method to attract the Monochamus Galloprovincialis Pine borer to traps where it can be trapped and controlled. This bug is the current transmitter in Europe of pine nematode (Bursaphelenchus Xylophilus), a pathogen that causes pine wilt disease. This invention uses a bait to capture the M. Galloprovincialis insect, which includes at least the M. Galloprovincialis pheromone 2-undecyloxy-1-ethanol and at least two cairomonas appealing for this species, preferably to a bait comprising 2-undecyloxy-1-ethanol, ipsenol, 2-methyl-3-butenol and α-pinene. This method has been patented by the University of Valladolid in Spain (application number P200930883) and Europe (10824500.2.-1454). The patent is valid in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. It is exploited by the Spanish company Sociedad Española de Desarrollos Químicos, SEDQ SA. It was also selected as one of the 14 most important transfers in Europe by the Association of European Science and Technology Transfer Professionals (ASTP, The Netherlands, http://www.astp.net) as published in its annual report (2014 edition).Other information
