Description

OBJECTIVES:

The group is formed with researchers from various areas of knowledge (Optics, Physical Chemistry and Applied Physics) in order to join efforts and share technology and calculation means that are currently applied to the study of spectra produced in highly ionized gases or in the form of supersonic jets.

These techniques allow characterizing the state of the gas and its molecular structure. Characterization techniques employ a combination of visible and ultraviolet and microwave emission and absorption spectroscopy.

The calculations of the emission or absorption processes are developed with quantum-mechanical methods in relation to the evolution and structure of atoms and molecules and with the use of molecular dynamics techniques in relation to the gas that contains the emitters.

The results of our studies and experimental spectroscopic measurements provide detailed information on the structure and internal molecular dynamics of the emitters. In some cases, this allows us to know the state of the disturbing plasma and characterize its electronic density, temperature and composition. In other cases, they provide us with data on the origin of the conformational and structural preferences of the studied systems, elucidating the role of the different intra and intermolecular interactions, such as hyperconjugative effects, hydrogen bonding or non-covalent interactions.
