Description

OBJECTIVES
• This research group seeks to integrate different academic perspectives to address sustainability problems, focusing especially on aspects related to energy and the economy. The complexity of global sustainability problems requires holistic visions, which is a very ambitious academic challenge, especially due to the thematic specialization that we have generally received and taught at the university. This research group aims to develop an interdisciplinary approach to address sustainability problems linked to energy and material resources, as well as technology and the economy. Therefore, the group is open to researchers from different disciplines who pursue the same purpose. Initially, the research group is made up of professors from different areas of physics, economics and engineering. From the methodological point of view, and given the characteristics of the problems described and the experience of the researchers, Systems Dynamics will be the priority working method. Among the lines of research that this group is developing are: estimation of the limits of energy potential of renewable and non-renewable energy resources worldwide, analysis of energy policies from the point of view of sustainability, analysis of sustainability of exploitation of mineral resources, models of integrated evaluation of economy-energy-climate change based on system dynamics, analysis of sustainability of electronic and transport technologies and relations between science, technology and society.
The ultimate goal of the research group is to make contributions that can contribute to building a sustainable society. For this, the limits of energy and material sustainability are investigated, the relationships between economy, society and technology and social and economic policies that can lead to sustainability are proposed.
