Description

OBJECTIVES
• The worldwide interest in the conservation and management of natural resources in recent decades has been translated into the need to apply sustainable methods for the exploitation and management of forests that ensure the rational use of natural resources and the persistence of environmental values. The common purpose of our research group is to advance scientific knowledge of forests, with the aim of developing tools, criteria and indicators for sustainable forest management, which enable the fundamental criteria such as the conservation of biodiversity, the improvement of sustainable productivity, the preservation of ecological organisms, systems and processes, and the integration of social aspects.
Among the main objectives of the group are knowledge of forest dynamics and silvicultural treatments, of the evolution of management systems, of their protection against harmful agents by means of methods that involve minimal disturbance of the environment, and of the characterization and conservation of natural genotypes of forest species of great ecological and productive value.
