Description

  • SARS-CoV-2
The abrupt expansion of the coronavirus worldwide caused an alarming shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), a global shortage that affected Spain in all its regions and endangering all those professionals, both health and other areas of activity, that provided their services, in many cases, without adequate protection, since the distribution companies did not have enough stock to cover the enormous demand or where to buy said equipment due to limited production.

UVa's Fablab, aware that the worldwide shortage of PPE was one of the major problems generated by the COVID-19 health crisis, decides to evaluate the technical options that with its facilities and means can be carried out with the The main objective of using advanced manufacturing techniques to help as much as possible to provide individual protection material to health personnel and other productive activities that were not limited in their activities during this period.

At this point, Fablab becomes part of one of the three large Working Groups established in Valladolid (Maker Community / Renault-Cidaut / Cartif-Aenium Engineering-Fablab-Universidad de León), for the mass production of PPE for the Castilla y León region.

In addition, an appeal is made to the entire university community, in this way to locate groups of work and to be able to manage them, presenting a great impact. Enabling different collection points throughout the city of Valladolid.

Getting to process about 2000 screens.

  • BIO PROSTHESIS.
In the absence of any functional function such as the fingers of the hands due to an amputation or malformation, it is possible to perform a reproduction of the limb.

This model is first designed and manufactured for later incorporation into a device, being perfectly functional. In this way it allows the patient to have an articulated hand.

The element that is made is manufactured by resin 3d printing. This type of technology allows to generate models of great resistance and reproduction. In addition, to include an elastic cover, protecting and preventing the deterioration of the finger.

  • Study bones.
The use as a manufacturing method such as resin 3d printing allows to generate high resolution models.

A perfect application is for the scale reproduction of models of different parts of the human body, such as bones or organs. Enabling a more exhaustive study of the student.
