The mission of the Research Center for Endocrinology and Clinical Nutrition (CIENC) is to generate highly specialized teaching and research in the broad field of Endocrinology, Diabetes mellitus and Nutrition, both in its basic aspects and in its clinical applications.

On the other hand, the CIENC at all times encourages close cooperation between its members, as well as collaboration with other Institutions whose interests converge with the purposes of the CIENC.

The dissemination of knowledge to the Society in the area of endocrinology, diabetes and nutrition is another of the CIENC's purposes.

The creation of the Institute made it possible to establish a reference center in the Uva Faculty of Medicine through which aid from public institutions and private entities could be channeled to develop research projects and contracts with companies within the legal framework of the General Foundation. of the University. The activity of the Institute was relaunched when more than 30 new researchers joined between 1999 and 2020 and Dr Daniel de Luis was appointed to the Executive Directorate of the Institute.
