Description

Teaching technology is a work line that assist the use of specific ICTs applied to Education to address Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) and e-Learning. Within this field, various technologies are studied and used, such as: Design Learning (DL) Learning Analytics (LA) in multiple environments Educational Data Mining (EDM) Machine Learning Middleware architectures for Distributed Learning Environments (DLE) Socio-semantic technologies and linked open data Ubiquitous Learning (UL) Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Worlds (VWs) Massive Open On-line Courses (MOOCs) Collaborative pedagogy in MOOCs Gamification for collaborative learning Organization of classes Some of the projects framed within this work line are described below: RESET: Reformulating Scalable Educational Ecosystems. Ministry of Economy and Finance: RDI State programme aimed at facing Social Challenges (TIN2014-53199-C3-2-R) [2015-2017]. EEE (Spanish acronym for web and specular educational spaces): Organizing Web and Specular Educational Spaces. Ministry of Science and Innovation: RDI State programme (TIN2011-28308-C03-02) [2011-2014]. AR4All: Teachers' support to use Augmented Reality in mobile devices for educational purposes. Cátedra Telefónica of the University of Valladolid regarding Mobility and Education (2012). Share.TEC: SHaring digital REsources in the Teaching Education Community. European Commission [2008-2011]. Main and essential line of the group, which proposes architectures and ICT applications to improve the teaching/learning process. Special attention is paid to the teachers' support in the design, implementation and assessment of educational innovations through ICTs.

The Group of Intelligent & Cooperative Systems / Education, Media, Informatics & Culture (GSIC/EMIC in its Spanish acronym) is a cross-cutting group composed of teachers, researchers and personnel from the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering, the Computer Engineering School and the Department of Education and Social Work of the University of Valladolid. It is an Official Research Group (GIR in its Spanish acronym) within the University of Valladolid and it is considered a Consolidated Research Unit (UIC in its Spanish acronym) by the regional government of Castilla y León. The GSI/EMIC research group leads and works on various research, development and teaching-innovation projects, funded at international, European, national and regional levels.
