The University of Valladolid’s IOBA reading center (IOBA-RC-UVA) offers the following services: - Consulting services: assistance in the development and preparation of clinical trial protocols. Assistance in the preparation of screening programs for the main causes of blindness. Training for certification in capture protocols. Training in platform management and image uploading. Monitoring and support systems. - Reading services and certification systems: 3-field imaging, 7-field imaging. Fluorescein angiography (FA). Optical coherence tomography (OCT). Clinical trials. Screening programs. - Imaging platform service for image transfer and archiving. - Training for image readers. - Collaboration in research projects. The IOBA Reading Center at the University of Valladolid (IOBA-RC-UVA) is a specialized part of the institute that provides support to centers participating in multicentric clinical trials where images play a key role, and to centralize information for promoters. It is especially dedicated to the detection and staging of the lesions associated with Diabetic Retinopathy (RD). However, its spectrum of activity is not limited to the reading of retinographies but also extends to fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography or photographs of the anterior segment of the eye. One of the characteristics of the IOBA-RC is its link to the University of Valladolid so it is governed by the principles of honesty, quality, relevance and innovation that inspire it.

Advantages:

The IOBA-RC is initially created by ophthalmologists from the University Institute involved in clinical research and with extensive experience in conducting clinical trials in Diabetic Retinopathy and Diabetic Macular Edema, as well as in the realization of teleophthalmology programs detection and classification . All staff at the Reading Center are trained in good clinical practices (GCP) in the use of procedures (SOP) and in the compliance with current regulations. In addition, he participates actively in international and national congresses, and has numerous indexed publications.

Additional Information:

The IOBA-RC participates in several regional, national and European telemedicine projects, financed by public funds in competitive calls. The objectives of these projects are the early prevention of eye complications from diabetes, the screening of diabetic retinopathy, and the automatic analysis of fundus images.
