The International Centre of Lexicography maintains a line of research focused on the study of the theoretical and practical aspects of specialized lexicography with the aim of developing Internet dictionaries.

The GIR relies on the work of professionals from different areas: knowledge engineers, database experts, experts in Internet economics, lexicographers, translators and experts in different fields, such as Accounting. The theoretical part of the development of the dictionaries is carried out by researchers belonging to various institutions, among which are the Institute of European Studies and the Universities of Valladolid, Aarhus (Denmark), Hildesheim (Germany), Stellenbosch (South Africa), Pretoria (South Africa) and Leuven (Belgium). The practical part is carried out by workers from the Danish company Ordbogen.com and its subsidiary Lemma.com, also in charge of marketing the dictionaries.
