Description

GIR - Mathematics education
OBJECTIVES
• The main objective of the group is the study of the teaching-learning processes of mathematics in the different educational stages, from Early Childhood Education to the University, in the latter case in the field of didactic-mathematical training of teachers of the previous stages. This objective is materialized in four main lines of research that are described below.

RESEARCH LINES
• The initial training of teachers in Infant, Primary and Secondary / Baccalaureate: characterization of the mathematical and didactic knowledge necessary for an adequate teaching professional development at the corresponding educational level, characterization and improvement of their affective-mathematical profiles (reduction of anxiety towards mathematics, development of positive attitudes, empowerment of a positive mathematical self-concept, ...) and approach to the identification and evolution of the self-control processes of teachers in initial training.
• Analysis of the affective-mathematical profile and of the self-control processes of the students of the pre-university stages and their effects on academic performance.
• Analysis of the impact of the introduction in classrooms of various didactic innovations associated with the teaching and learning of mathematics, both from a cognitive and affective point of view.
• Analysis of the development of processes especially determining in the learning of mathematics, such as oral and written communication in mathematics, demonstration, mathematical reasoning and the development of connections between mathematical concepts or procedures or their application in real situations.
